U.S. Communities Foundation Donates $50,000 to Red Cross

U.S. Communities is honored to be part of a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross through the U.S. Communities Foundation. The donation, in the form of The Home Depot gift cards, will support disaster response and preparedness work.

The check was presented by members and representatives of the U.S. Communities Foundation Board of Directors, comprised of leadership from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), California State Association of Counties (CSAC), League of California Cities (LCC), National Association of Counties (NACo), National Governors Association (NGA), National League of Cities (NLC) and U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM). In addition to providing oversight of the U.S. Communities program, the Foundation Board members determine funding of charitable activities that directly benefit the public sector organizations served by the U.S. Communities program.

“We very much value and appreciate the U.S. Communities Foundation contribution,” said Linda Mathes, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region. “With their support, the Red Cross can immediately respond to the needs of communities impacted by disaster and carry out the mission of the Red Cross.”

“Disaster response and recovery is always a challenging time for local government,” said John Musso, chairman of U.S. Communities Foundation. “By ensuring first responders have access to resources and supplies from Home Depot, we can help bring much-needed relief to people in times of disaster.”

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters across the country, including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires. Red Cross services are provided to people in need of assistance at no cost and regardless of income. For assistance from the Red Cross or more information about Red Cross services, please go to
